Using the GPS with PC Software
This section aims to explain how to connect a GPS receiver to your PC software.
I am using a Magellan SporTrack primarily with Memory Map software on a Windows XP PC.
I also use some shareware products, EasyGPS and GPS Utility (GPSU) and you will find my notes on use of these.
It may be some help with other configurations too.
If you are able to add information about a different setup please send me the instructions you used.
The EasyGPS program is zero cost Shareware, see the links page for how to obtain a copy.
GPSU is shareware, a limited capability version is available for free download (see the links page)
I think one of the biggest problem GPS users face is data compatibility between different hardware and software products. My focus is on helping translate the diverse formats between products, primarily by showing how to convert data to the non-proprietary GPX format.
